President Li Rongde Met with President of GMercyU

On May 30th, Doctor Kathleen Owens, President of Gwynedd Mercy University (GMercyU), Mr. William Carroll, President of Hunter Global Education, and Ms. Yuan Yuan, Vice President of Hunter Global Education, visited Dalian Polytechnic University (DPU). Professor Li Rongde, President of DPU, met with the guests. Professor Ren Wendong, Vice President of DPU and relevant responsible persons of International Office, DPU, also attended the meeting. The visit aims at having discussions on establishing exchange programs and academic collaboration between the two universities.

Over the meeting, President Li Rongde, on behalf of DPU, extended a warm welcome to the guests. Then he briefly introduced DPU. He pointed out that international exchanges were of two-way communication. He expected that mutual understanding could be deepened through the visit, so that solid foundation of future cooperation could be laid. He also expected that students of GMercyU could come to DPU to experience Chinese cultures and to promote friendship between China and the U.S.

　　　Then Professor Wang Sheng, Director of International Office, DPU, presented a detailed introduction of DPU. His presentation covered information about programs, schools, teaching faculty, education, scientific research, student’s activities, campus, and international exchanges. Afterwards, President Kathleen Owens introduced five schools of GMercyU. She pointed out that education of GMercyU aimed at preparing students to serve the society. After the meeting, both sides reached a consensus on establishing teacher and student exchange program and teacher training program in the fields of language, computer, and management.

　　　During the visit, guests also had a campus tour. Accompanied by Vice President Ren Wendong, they visited National Engineering Research Center of Seafood, Beer Production Laboratory, and School of International Education. They also enjoyed Graduation Fashion Show at School of Fashion. President Owens said that she was quite impressed by the academic atmosphere and scientific research strength of DPU. At last, she thanked DPU for the warm hospitality she had received.
